Adam Milstein is an Israeli-American lobbyist and real estate investor. He was born in 1952 in Haifa, Israel. 19 years later he was conscripted into the Israel Defense Forces and participated in the Yom Kippur War.1
He is the manager of Hager Pacific Properties. Milstein and Gila, his wife, founded the Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation in 2000. He also co-founded the Israeli-American Council where he now serves as chairman.
The Milstein foundation says it upholds associations working in the following fields:
⦁ Media Precision and Accountability
⦁ Jewish and Israeli Education
⦁ Youth Engagement
⦁ Fighting “anti-Semitism” in university and college campuses
⦁ Acquainting non-Israeli Americans with Israel
⦁ Strategy Exploration and Democracy Think Tanks
⦁ Promoting the idea of Israel’s Legitimacy.2
The Donor Forum is also an important initiative supported by Milstein which connects pro-Israel donors with Israel causes.
Pro-Israel Campus Advocacy
Through the American-Israel Educational Foundation (AIEF) which is the educational wing of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), Milstein tried to influence African-American, Christian, and Latino student leaders to become advocates for Israel. This engagement was facilitated by the cooperation Campus Allies Mission to Israel, which is connected to the AIEF.
Milstein was able to connect people with religious backgrounds with political organizations like AIPAC. Aish HaTorah, a Jewish religious outreach organization, has cooperated with the Milstein-connected Campus Allies Mission. Through this cooperation, Aish HaTorah was able to recruit students who are primarily interested in attending the AIPAC conference, rather than growing religiously or spiritually.3
Milstein claims that he views his work as being beyond “philanthropy”, something for which he claims to dedicate more than 80 percent of his time. He mentions that: “I go, I select organizations, I build special plans, special programs, I supervise the implementation, I connect this organization and this program to other organizations and other programs. It’s more much intense what I’m doing compared to regular philanthropy. It takes much more of my time.” In a way, he adds, it takes “more time to spend your philanthropy money than to make it.”
Suppressing pro-Palestine views in campus
Milstein collaborated with Sheldon Adelson and Haim Saban to organize the “Campus Maccabees” initiative. Campus Maccabees gathered more than 50 organizations to work against “anti-Semitic” (anti-Israeli) groups and organizations on US college campuses.
Milstein has written several op-ed pieces against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS). He stated in the Jerusalem Post Annual Conference that: “BDS is a movement to eradicate the State of Israel, pure and simple.” He added: “You have to fight fire with fire. We can’t be silent, we can’t be politically correct,” he continued, “There is no way we can have a dialogue and a discourse with people who want to eradicate us. We need to be on the offense, attack the attackers, boycott the boycotters.”4
