Alex Peterfreund

Overview:
Alex Peterfreund grew up in Antwerp, Belgium, and claims to be inspired by Jewish “Hazzanut”¹ culture from a young age. He was the main soloist in the Romi Goldmuntz Synagogue choir for nearly 25 years where he sang with famous prayer Rabbi, Benjamin Muller.
Breaking from his career, Alex moved to Dubai in 2014 and co-founded the Jewish Council of the Emirates which put on an effort spread Jewish communities in the Gulf state. Peterfreund and the JCE leadership played a critical role in establishing Zionist infrastructure in the name of “Judiasm”, creating an influential Zionist foothold paving way for the UAE’s formal recognition of Israel in 2020.
Peterfreund is also board member of the Association of Gulf Jewish Communities, the umbrella organization seeking to establish Zionist communities across the Gulf states.
In addition to being one of the co-founders and cantors of the Jewish community in the Emirates, Peterfreund is a sales managing director with more than 30 years of experience in the diamond and luxury sector.

A Belgian Spook in the UAE

With his sudden immigration to the UAE, prior to Israel’s famed 2020 “Abraham Accords” deal in the country, Peterfreund is unmistakably part of a larger network of “Jewish” Europeans and Americans which suddenly became interested in the UAE in the mid-2010s. Peterfreund has, however, not hidden his connections with known Zionist operators and figures, such as Israeli politician Fleur Hassan-Nahoum and other members of the infamous “Sharaka Institute”. The Sharaka Institute currently operates as a long-term Zionist soft diplomacy outreach program in the Arab Gulf region, from propping up social media campaigns in support of the regime to hosting influential individuals from Israel to the UAE and vice versa.
