Overview:
Anatoly Chubais is a former Russian-Israeli politician and businessman. He is mainly responsible for Russia’s privatization wave after the fall of the Soviet Union. He is considered the person who introduced Putin to Yeltsin and played an important role in helping Putin ascend the throne of power in Russia.1
Chubais was the head of the state-owned electrical power monopoly RAO UES. He was also the head of the Russian Nanotechnology Corporation (RUSNANO) in 2008–2020, a member of the Advisory Council for JPMorgan Chase from 2008 until 2013, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia (1997-1998), Kremlin Chief of Staff (1996-1997) and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia (1992-1994).
In 2022, he resigned from his official positions in Russia and fled to Israel in opposition to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.2
