Overview:
George Selim is a conservative Republican Arab American native of Cleveland, Ohio, born of Egyptian and Lebanese descent. He holds an MA and BA from Georgetown University and Walsh University subsequently. Selim has been prying on Muslim communities for years. Currently, as Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President (SVP), Public Affairs, he enforces Zionist lobby policies on policymakers and the press, acting under the cover of “national security, civil liberties, and public policy”.
In a post 9/11 context, Selim effectively helped the US government set up a global network of governmental and civil society leaders to quell any form of anti-Zionist dissent among Muslim communities in the name of securing the country’s “the most critical security priorities”. Selim’s operations date back to the early 2000s when his “unsparing service” in Arab-American communities and institutes was awarded by the appointment to the Homeland Security’s first Director of the Office for Community Partnerships.1
Carving out a career in the height of US post-9/11 “War on Terror” hysteria, Selim’s experience in dealing with so-called “homeland security issues” among Arabs and Muslims community leaders has made Selim a key figure in the Zionist lobby. Hired by the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the National Security Council (NSC) Staff, he focused on combatting anti-Israel sentiment as a form of “anti-semitism” both in the U.S. and across the globe. After abandoning his government roles in 2017, Selim has lobbied for the use of US law enforcement capabilities to further ADL objectives, such as stifling anti-Israel voices across the States.2
Despite their center-left politics, the Aspen Security Forum and Council on Foreign Relations are some of the main US think-tanks which have promoted the right-leaning George Selim. It is worth mentioning that these institutions enjoy good relations with the ADL CEO Greenblatt, which may have referred Selim to these institutions.
Making a Career out of Post-9/11 Islam Hysteria
Early on, in the post-9/11 era, Selim worked for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), where he proposed conflict resolution and mediation services to “conflicted” communities nationwide.
Later, Selim served for four years as director for community partnerships in the White House’s National Security Council (NSC) where he concentrated on building public-private partnerships to address both “domestic and international security threats”. In addition, Selim has a record in “Civil Rights” activities, in which he was Senior Policy Adviser at the DHS Office for Civil Rights & Civil Liberties. There, he advised Department leadership on policy issues at the intersection of civil liberties and homeland security from September 2015 to August 2017.
This tri-angular governmental experience (DOJ, NSC & DHS) in combatting so-called “Islamist extremism” along with his focus on Islamic schools and branches in response to Zionist concerns of rising “Muslim antisemitism” – effectively turned Selim into a very valuable Zionist asset.
It is worth considering that his short cooperation with the Arab American Institute and AmeriCorps , had a key role in lobbying within Arab American communities for the benefit of the Zionist cause. Therein, he advocated for “Arab American civil rights”, a catchphrase concealing his true intent, which is controlling Arab American communities. In 2004, Selim acted as a subsequent Arab delegate to the Republican National Convention.
Selim has been awarded with NSC’s “Outstanding Service Award” in 2015, the DHS Secretary’s “Award for Excellence” in 2008, and DOJ’s “Meritorious Service Award” in 2006. He was also nominated for the Washington Post “Federal Player of the Week” in March 2009. Selim is a commissioned officer in the United States Navy Reserve.
Time in the White House
In 2008, George Selim started working for the White House, ultimately throughout the Bush, Obama, and Trump presidencies. Concurrently, he was chosen to head a newly created Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Task Force to coordinate efforts and partnerships among government agencies to thwart any “threatening action” against United States interests. Meanwhile, as the Director for Community Partnerships, Selim established the month of April as “Arab-American Heritage Month” in 2014. Given Selim’s background and other similar US government initiatives, such programs should be met with extreme suspicion as they are usually designed to infiltrate and influence target communities.3
Selim directed all of DHS’s locally-based CVE programs and was designated to lead the CVE Task Force that organized the federal government’s efforts to tackle “violent extremism” in the United States. Selim imposed several initiatives, including hundreds of community engagement forums across the US. Having served for four years under Obama as the NSC’s Director for Community Partnerships, Selim went back to the Department of Homeland Security to lead the federal CVE effort. Throughout these years, Selim was involved in “counterinsurgency” work directed specifically at the Arab American Muslim populations, and communities.
While Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) was portrayed as the government’s attempt to forge a “relationship” with local Muslim communities, it essentially pushed Muslim Americans to spy on their communities for the sake of the government; to hunt for people who seem likely to be “radicalized”, using “extremely biased stereotypical descriptions” such as reading the Koran, expressing support for Palestine or growing a beard.
Aiding the ADL
In July 2017, after more than a decade of working for the government, Selim left CVE citing budget cuts and partisanship in an interview with the NPR. Since then, Selim was appointed as the ADL’s Senior Vice President of Programs to direct operations of the ADL’s CEO Office and look after the “Leadership, Communications, Digital, Security & Law Enforcement” teams. In an unprecedented position, Selim reports directly to ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt and is in charge of the ADL’s education, law enforcement, and community security programs, and supervises its “Center on Extremism”.
Foreign Meddling on Behalf of Israel
A month before Selim’s unexpected trip to Saudi Arabia in January 2023, leaders of American Jewish pro-Israel groups had a meeting with the Egyptian president, El-Sisi, following the U.S.-Africa Leaders’ Summit in Washington in December 2022. On both occasions, Selim was present and took the opportunity to ensure the implementation of certain Zionist demands in Egyptian curricula.
In January 2023, Selim and ADL CEO Greenblatt made a low-key trip to Saudi Arabia, hosted by Jerry Inzerillo , CEO of major Saudi tourism company . According to Saudi sources, the visit led to the removal of certain “anti-Zionist content” from Saudi Arabian textbooks. According to Greenblatt himself, Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, and the U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism (SEAS) Amb. Deborah E. Lipstadt were also involved in this unprecedented happening.
