Overview:
Jorge Knoblovits is a Jewish Argentinian Zionist activist who is the vice president of Argentina’s World Jewish Congress and head of the Delegation of Argentine Israelite Associations (DAIA), the biggest Israel lobby in Argentina.
Knoblovits has contributed to the adoption of the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism in Argentina when he was a member of International Relations Commission of the Permanent Assembly for Human Rights of Argentina.1 The IHRA definition has been actively used to purge critique of Israel from the public scene by labeling them as being “anti-semitic” and thus removable.
In 2021, after which the brutal aggression of Israel against Gaza was criticized by the Argentinian government, Knoblovits claimed that such stances against Israel will produce “dangerous prejudice” targetting the people of Israel.2 In the same year after Argentina voted against Israel in the UN and condemned Israel’s violation of human rights against Palestinians, Knoblovits asserted that “ I lament that my country has found allies who don’t respect democratic rights”.3
Knoblovits receives police protection after alleged death threats were issued against him.4
