Overview:
Majid Al Sarrah is the executive director of the pro-Israel Sharaka institute, a shadowy organization set up with the goal of normalizing relations between the Israeli occupation and certain Arab regimes. Al-Sarrah has lived both in the UK & UAE and works as an international law advisor.
Abraham Accords Lobbyist
During the 2020 Abraham Accords agreement, several Arab regimes accepted to recognize Israeli occupation over Palestinian land in return for economic and political support.
Majid al-Sarrah is one of the few Arabs to have played a pivotal role in government-backed attempts seeking to forge relations between Israel and the UAE.
In 2020, Al-Sarrah took part in a trip to Israel along with other Emirati and Bahraini normalization influencers, where he visited the digital diplomacy team of the Israeli foreign ministry, which he currently cooperates with. He also met with Avichay Adraee, the head of the Arab media division of the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit. Al Sarrah described his visit to Israel as historical and representing people, not governments. Al Sarrah claimed that what he saw in Israel was far better than what the media portrays. He falsely claimed that Jews, Arabs and Druze all live together in peace and harmony under Israeli apartheid rule, citing that Arabs can work in the Israeli occupation army.1
In a trip to the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum in Jerusalem, Al-Sarrah sought to whitewash Israeli war crimes, saying that Jews have gone through “genocide and could have done likewise in retaliation” but have decided not to.
The Abraham Accords lobbyist also signed a letter confirming the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of antisemitism in a sign of support for Israel.2
Sarrah has also hosted Israeli visitors in the UAE. The pro-Israel advocate has a habit of using the Holocaust to legitimize Israel’s existence.
