The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) is a pro-Israel lobbying group that claims to connect Jewish communities to Republican politicians and decision-makers1. Sheldon Adelson, the late infamous Jewish casino tycoon, donated major sums to the to RJC and served as its board of directors.
RJC had held multi conventions and ceremonies to gather pro-Israel and Jewish Republicans. In describing these efforts some experts say that the RJC is manufacturing a false binary, a “with-Israel-or-against-Israel” debate, designed to divide Democrats, to quash debate, to delegitimize and marginalize emerging progressive rivals.2
According to left-wing Zionists, the RJC tries to present the Israel issue as an exclusively right wing matter, omitting leftists from it. Through its efforts, nonetheless, groups such as the RJC have revealed major tensions between Republicans and Democrats in regards to Israel.
