Tom Tugendhat is a British politician. He has been a member of the Conservative Party representing Tonbridge since 2015. He also served as Minister of State for Security from 2022 to 2024. Tugendhat was the chairman of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee from 2017 to 2022.
Tom Tugendhat was born in a prominent and influential Catholic family of originally Jewish ancestry. The Tugendhat family migrated from Austria to the Britain and converted to Catholicism. Tom’s father, Sir Michael Tugendhat is a former High Court Judge. Another prominent Tugendhat is Christopher Tugendhat who is a member of the Conservative Party and the House of Lords. He is Tom’s uncle.
Pro-Israel Political Activity
Tom Tugendhat, not unlike other Jewish Zionist politicians in the UK, adamantly supports the Jewish ethnostate. Throughout his high-end political career, he has advocated for Israeli interests. He believes that the UN is wrong when it condemns Israel building new illegal settlements in occupied Palestinian territory.1 Tugendhat has supported the prolonging of Israeli invasion of Gaza after October 7, 2023. He asserts that Israel needs to “uproot Hamas” in Gaza2 and that the UK should stands resolutely with the Israeli genocide of Palestine.3
Assisting Occupation
Tom Tugendhat is a former agent of the Intelligence Corps in the British army. He was embedded with British occupation forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan and helped establish the National Security Council of Afghanistan.4
