Overview:

The Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland is one of the main organizations promoting Zionism in the UK and Ireland. It was established in 1899 to defend the “Jewish right” of establishing a homeland in Palestinian lands. It claims that it represents more than 30 organizations with 50000 affiliated members.1

Among its objectives are:

Coordinating Zionist lobbies across the UK and Ireland
• Encouraging Jews to contribute to Zionist ideals and Aliyah (migration to occupied Palestine)
• Cracking down on anti-Zionist movements such as the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions movement

Its chairman is Paul Charney who was born in South Africa and migrated to Israel where he joined the IDF. Charney currently lives in the UK.2

Cooperation with British Islamophobic right

In 2021, the Zionist Federation, with cooperation of the Board of Deputies of the British Jews, held a demonstration defending Israeli atrocities against the people of Gaza in which many Zionist supremacists and anti-Islam agitators participated and called for the destruction of Palestinian villages.3

The Zionist Federation has close ties with anti-Muslim right-wing Britain First (BF), with some of its members, such as former Zionist Federation vice chair Jonathan Hoffman taking part in BF’s activities.4
